I think that’s something that’s so powerful about books. ![]() It felt good to be a part of something, after feeling so disconnected from other people since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. ![]() I wasn’t just an outside observer anymore, but rather someone who was involved in the book community. I left comments and liked TikTok after TikTok, engulfing myself in the culture around the book and reveling in the same love that people had for this book that I did. Immediately, I flew back onto BookTok to see what other people had to say about it. I hadn’t done that since the beginning of the pandemic. I finished the book in less than 24 hours. It is a book full of love and family, something that I didn’t realize that I needed until I started reading it. Over the course of a month, Linus learns about the children and the makeshift family that they have created on the island, and, in doing so, becomes pulled into their community. Arthur oversees the care of some of the most dangerous magical children in the world. One of his assignments leads him to the orphanage of Arthur Parnassus, located on a small island in the ocean. ![]() The story follows Linus Baker, a governmental social worker whose job is to assess magical orphans, ensure that they are properly being taken care of and report their threat to society. ![]()
